Founded in 1934 in Sykkylven, Norway, Ekornes has spent over 90 years
perfecting the art of comfort — from the original Stressless®
recliner launched in 1971 to today's collection, including Stressless®
Dining.
Our commitment to comfort and innovation has earned numerous accolades,
including the prestigious 2025 Red Dot Award: Product Design, awarded to the
Stressless® Adam recliner in 2025. Behind every model is decades of
engineering expertise and a Norwegian design philosophy built to last.
Today Stressless® is one of the world's most recognised furniture brands,
part of the Ekornes group — the largest furniture manufacturer in the
Nordic region, headquartered on the west coast of Norway. We design and
produce furniture marketed under the brands Stressless®, Svane®, and
IMG®, combining heritage, innovation, and global reach to bring comfort
into everyday life.
Ekornes operates sales offices in 13 countries and collaborates with over 4,000 retailers serving 48 markets worldwide. We have eight manufacturing facilities in Norway, the USA, Thailand, and Lithuania, and employ around 3,000 people.
