The Ekornes factory is successfully developing automated sewing operations and are now harvesting the fruits of our labours.

Since the summer of 2010 Ekornes has been testing a robot that sews covers for the base of our Stressless Jazz and Stressless Blues chairs.  This robot sews together the leather, fibre and lining, and thus produces the entire cover for the base. The robot is now fully perfected and will be moved from the test laboratory into ordinary production at the Stressless factory at Ikornnes. It has a capacity of approximately 120 units per day.

The first automated sewing operation installed at Ekornes was in the production of the liner for the Stressless stool.  Other parts of the production are also highly automated.  Ekornes has around 60 robots installed in its production of Stressless chairs and sofas.
