Ekornes ASA was one of six Norwegian companies nominated for the Research Council of Norway’s  Innovation Award for 2011, previously called Norway’s Most Innovative Company.

The innovation award was created to spotlight Norway’s innovation heroes, and so stimulate others to pursue research-based innovation. Announced on 21 September, the award went to Lærdal Medicals AS, but the Research Council of Norway’s CEO Arvid Hallén said that all the candidates were extremely strong. The other nominated companies were Axis-Shield, Mustad Longline, Salmon Brands and Tomra ASA.

Arve Ekornes, who heads our product development department, is proud that the ‘Innovators of Comfort’ are considered one of the most innovative companies in Norway.

“Ekornes operates in an extremely competitive market, where research is fundamental to competitiveness, both in Norway and internationally,” he said.  “Technological development and innovation will continue to be an important focus area for Ekornes in the years ahead.”
